Where and What is the Core? The “core” in Core Energetics is that place in you that can make an authentic and fulfilling connection to yourself, others, and life itself. The instruments of connection are our bodies, consciousness and natural energy or life-force. Core Energetics therapy teaches people how to authentically integrate all of these instruments, and helps remove the internal obstacles that block the expression of your true essence. What is the aim of Core Energetics? Core Energetics aims to promote healing by placing focus on the balance and flow of energy between body, mind, emotions, spirit, and will in order to promote healing. This therapeutic process assumes a person’s intrinsic qualities reflect universal qualities of love, wisdom, serenity, and power, and qualified practitioners of the approach work to help individuals evolve toward a greater expression of these innate qualities. Energy and consciousness are the chief components of Core Energetic theory. Good health is dependent on the energy flow between body, mind, emotions, will, and spirit, and a therapy session will often involve the application of a variety of therapeutic techniques in order to address the flow of human energy, increase personal awareness, and heal the mind and body. While verbal communication plays a major role in therapy, Core Energetics practitioners also use the physical body as a vital tool for making diagnoses and gauging treatment. Many types of therapy treatment involve the person in treatment reclining on a couch, but in Core Energetics therapy, individuals are encouraged to stand upright and ground energy through their feet and legs. This position symbolises an awareness of the present, making contact, and taking responsibility by standing on their own two feet.

27/4/2020 1 Comment What is Core Energetics?Core Energetics was developed in the early 1970’s by the late John Pierrakos, M.D. Pierrakos was mentored by Wilhelm Reich and later founded Bioenergetics with Alexander Lowen. After meeting Eva Broch, the gifted woman who channelled the Pathwork lectures. Eva later became his wife and he integrated the spiritual concepts of the Pathwork with the body psychotherapy techniques of Bioenergetics - and Core Energetics was born. Core Energetics, which combines body based psychotherapy and spirituality, is based on three tenets: 1) that an individual is a psychosomatic unity; 2) that healing lies within; and 3) that all of life moves toward creative evolution. In his book, Core Energetics, John said, “every part of the human person, from the structure of the body, to the clarity of perception, is molded by internal energy.” This life force energy, of which we are molded, is meant to flow freely and pulsate with aliveness. The experience of this free and natural pulsation is one of pleasure and presence. Life energy also has a qualitative aspect. It has direction and purpose. It is imbued and is inseparable from consciousness. Everything is consciousness “from the smallest subatomic particle yet to be discovered, to the totality of being.” The phrase, “pleasure and fulfillment through energy and consciousness,” which was for many years a motto of Core Energetics, is based on these principles. Human development, from embryo to adult is a process of embodiment. It takes the individual through a series of stages in consciousness, in which you come to know yourself, within the polarities of unity and separation. The successful completion of each stage of development depends upon a positive experience where the primary needs of the growing child are adequately met. Each stage brings about an expansion of consciousness with a new sense of yourself in your body and in relationship to others. The Core Energetics process opens the blocks to free the life force, which brings about an increase of energy and awareness. It would seem this would be something everyone would want, however, in reality we often have resistance to this process. As humans, our instinct is to avoid change and discomfort, to stay within our “comfort zone,” even if it is filled with suffering. It is nevertheless a “known suffering.” To take a growth journey means to go beyond our comfort zone, to engage the unknown and the unconscious, and to have experiences and feelings, which we may have believed were too dangerous to feel. To realize what we lacked in our childhood is painful; to feel and express our repressed rage actually reconnects us to an energy supply, which was previously unavailable to us. In Core Energetics, we work with this powerful energy, that when grounded and integrated supplies vitality and creativity. We do this work to reconnect with the truth of our experience exactly as it was; to feel the disowned feelings; to express what could not be expressed. In doing so, we take ownership of the energy we had to disown, because at the time it was too painful and our ego could not integrate it. This is not about blaming our caregivers. That is not the point at all. Paradoxically, we discover that what we imagined we had to avoid at all costs, turns out to be an illusion. We do not die from the pain, or the feelings, or the consciousness but quite the contrary, we come through to the other side, t-r-a-n-s-f-o-r-m-e-d, feeling more courageous and more alive than we were before. Not only are we more alive and more empowered, we also have access to a greater range of emotions and we don’t get stuck in any of them. As energy courses through the body, it opens the energy centers and in particular the heart, which we believed we needed to protect. As energy flows freely in and through the body we become more grounded and present to what is. Life becomes joyous not because there is no pain in living. Of course there is. Because we can cry and express freely when we feel the need to, we no longer hold onto the feelings. They flow through us as they are meant to. We experience joy because we come to trust ourselves in our grounded sense of self and truth, as we feel and express our feelings. This in turn creates connection, deepens intimacy with others and enriches the quality of our contact. We feel a greater connectedness to all life, as the life force within us is in continual open exchange with the universal energy field. We are inspired and we experience pleasure in its pure form as a result of the fullness of our embodiment. We can laugh more heartily, love more passionately, and live more dynamically. This is the promise of the Core Energetics journey. Pleasure, fulfillment, and joy are not empty words, nor are they a promise of a pain-free life. Core Energetics provides a process to transform the suffering we experience when our energy is fragmented, depleted, or held. The work of Core Energetics is powerful because it addresses the body in breaking through long-held defenses. Cognitive work is simply not enough. The work of Core Energetics is integrative, it unifies mind, body, emotions, sexuality, will, and spirit. When you show up for the work of Core Energetics, it changes you from the inside out and connects you with your deeper purpose, so you can live the life you are meant to live. Written by Erickson Coaching International on 21/07/2015 erickson.edu/blog/the-difference-between-couples-coaching-and-couples-therapy As with all coaching vs. therapy discussions, the biggest difference between couples coaching and couples therapy is around goals. Coaches ask questions to help one or both partners in a relationship to improve something – for example, improving communication, personal growth or helping them respond to needs better. Improvement will be judged on metrics decided on by the stakeholders. Therapy is more about providing a safe space for people to communicate so they can resolve emotional issues or so that they can come to terms with something that is hard to talk about (e.g. a previous divorce, infidelity, illness or a death, etc.) or pathologies that are preventing someone from being happy. Essentially, therapy clients are looking to heal; coaching clients are looking to get results(according to whatever goals they set); therapy clients want to understand why they feel what they feel; coaching clients want to take action to change their lives. Another way to think about this is to say that couples therapy is about dealing with unresolved issues from the past that are impacting your ability to be happy together, today. e.g. “You said you had difficulty trusting your partner because of how your parents treated you when you were younger. Tell me about that.” Couples coaching is more about assessing and adapting your habits in the present so you can get results you want in the future – whether that’s fixing something in the near term (e.g. “We want to organize our time better so we can spend more quality time together) or working towards something big over the long term (e.g. “How do I keep my ongoing conflicts with my in-laws from really hurting our marriage?”). It’s probably easiest to illustrate the difference with the kinds of questions a couples coaching professional might ask:
Follow-Up Couples Coaching Questions and Answers
In couples coaching, the end goal typically goes beyond open-ended aims like ‘feeling happy’, ‘coming to terms with the past’ or ‘getting closure’. It’s about helping your client to get measurable results, sometimes a little bit at a time, to help with the problems that he/she already knows are hurting his/her relationship – to achieve a brighter future. My philosophy After years of participating in and studying the healing arts, I find that the best approach to helping people make the changes they want in their lives, is to use a combination of life coaching, counselling and spiritual healing. This approach is a more flexible and powerful way to help you effect more lasting change than can be achieved through a single therapy approach alone. I believe each individual has a unique way of learning and it is the therapy that needs to be tailored to the individual, not that the individual should adapt to the therapy approach. I approach counselling from a spiritual perspective, which covers not only standard counselling work but also healing and intuitive approaches. You can find out more information about how I approach helping people make the changes they want, by reading the what-is-core-energetics.html , what-is-nlp.html and what-is-theta-healing.html blog posts. As I continue to evolve on my own journey and take on additional study other modalities will be added to these methods. What happens at the First Appointment? I view the first meeting as an opportunity for you to explore whether working with me will help you find solutions to tackle the challenge(s) you are facing and achieve what you want. During this meeting I like to obtain a basic outline of the issue(s) which made you seek me out and identify what a good therapy outcome would look like for you. This meeting is also an opportunity for you to discover my style of working. I like to answer any questions you have about the way we work. I will let you know if I think the skills I have will make me effective in supporting you to find a solution to your problem. If I do not think I can be of help, I will make recommendations for alternatives that may be more helpful to you. If I believe I can help you, I am aware that you might like to go away and think for a while before making a decision to work with me or not. Alternatively, you may like to organise a further meeting or more at the end of the session. I will usually give you some "homework" to do and some things to think about before the next session. What is the difference between a Breakthrough Session and a normal Coaching Session? Once you've decided to work with me, the 3 hour Breakthrough Coaching Session is recommended as the initial session. It is an NLP tool roughly divided into 3 sections (with coffee or tea breaks in between as necessary)
What other techniques do I use? While verbal communication plays a major role in any therapy, as a Core Energetics practitioner, I also use the physical body as a vital tool for making diagnoses and gauging treatment. Many types of therapy treatment involve the person in treatment reclining on a couch, but in Core Energetics therapy, individuals are encouraged to stand upright and ground energy through their feet and legs. This position symbolizes an awareness of the present, making contact, and taking responsibility by standing on their own two feet. A typical Session might include:
How many Sessions will you need? Everyone's journey is different, however, if you wish to set a finite number of sessions from the beginning, I am pleased to give you an idea of what can be achieved in different time periods. Additionally, you can review the work regularly with me. This gives you time to experience how my approach can help you and develop an idea of how long you might need to achieve the outcome you want. 5/5/2017 1 Comment What is Theta Healing? Theta Healing is a transformative, heart-based technique which works by removing core limiting beliefs through connecting with unity consciousness (or in Theta Healing language – the energy of the Creator of ‘all that is’). Theta Healing is a very useful intervention to help clear long held issues and karmic patterning. Theta healing is a spiritual healing technique that allows you to release and change limiting beliefs and emotions you hold within your body and mind. It works by removing the limiting beliefs behind many physical, emotional and mental issues at a core level. The method uses theta brainwave frequency - a very slow frequency that is thought to allow a person to connect with the creative force of the universe. The method works by addressing the causes of blockages that may arise in the way you function - blockages caused by factors such as emotional repression, belief systems, fears and traumas. It's believed that when these blockages occur, the flow of spiritual energy in the body is restricted. Theta healing enables you to identify these restrictions and to connect to a higher source in order to help you release negative beliefs. The technique is used to treat a variety of issues from emotional issues such as helping to heal relationship traumas, to aiding people recover from physical injury. Theta healing was developed in the 1990s by Vianna Stibal, a naturopath, massage therapist and intuitive reader who claims to have healed herself from a life-threatening cancer. Since then she has used her technique to heal clients from her own practice in the USA and has trained other practitioners around the world. Practitioners of theta healing focus on the state of 'theta' level of brainwave activity, a state of very deep relaxation that occurs within the brain when we dream and the frequency of the subconscious mind. They believe that your subconscious beliefs - shaped by the people in your life, your culture and your experiences - shape your health and behaviour. Positive beliefs help you move forward while negative ones hold you back. Theta Healing taps into this subconscious level and empowers you to remove and replace negative emotions, feelings and thoughts with positive ones. Harnessing the power of the theta state enables you access your subconscious so you can instantly reprogram those negative subconscious beliefs in order to create optimal health. Theta healing has been described as the practical application of quantum mechanics. The idea is that our receptor cells in our bodies have a certain vibration. At the same neuropeptides (intercellular messengers), also have a specific vibration. When a neuropeptides interacts with a receptor cell that vibrates at the same frequency, they are able to connect. To help facilitate this flow in our bodies, theta healing works on changing the vibration, or 'energy' of the receptor cells. According to quantum physics everything is made up of energy so theta healing operates on the premise that since we are made up of energy, we can use energy to change ourselves for the better. Theta healing my be used to help treat problems including: · Stress, trauma and depression. · Fears and phobias · Negative relationship or family issues It is also thought to help manifest abundance, prosperity, personal growth and success. Theta Healing is not meant to replace medical advice but instead is best worked hand in hand with it. During a basic session of theta therapy, a practitioner will use talk therapy and muscle testing (a technique of kinesiology) to identify limiting subconscious beliefs. They will then enter a theta state in order to identify the areas in your body that need to change. During this process you will work with the healer to reveal any negative beliefs and give your permission to let the practitioner reprogram the cells that need to change in order to facilitate healing. 4/5/2017 0 Comments What is Life Coaching?Life Coaching means different things to different people and each coach brings their own special touch to the session. Here is a great article on the generics of Life Coaching that someone else has spent a lot of time putting together so that I don't have to www.lifecoachspotter.com/what-is-a-life-coach/ While the above article applies to me, my approach is deeper than just goal setting and motivation. I use Core Energetics, NLP and Theta Healing tools, along with my own intuition and healing strengths. By unblocking the subconscious and unconscious beliefs and experiences that have been holding you back, my aim is to heal the wounds that cause you to behave in ways that don't serve you. Creating lasting change. 24/4/2017 1 Comment What is NLP?"NLP" stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming Neuro: How we organise our thoughts through our senses; visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory and gustatory. Linguistic: The language we use to communicate with ourselves and others. Programming: The way we organise our ideas and actions to produce results. NLP is like being given the manual and the highway code of your brain. It has been called the software for the mind, and it's easy to see why. NLP is an attitude and a methodology, a set of techniques, which leads to excellence. It is the study of excellence, providing and enabling you to weave magic in all areas of your life. It is an extraordinary and cutting-edge approach to human communication and the development of excellence. This remarkable set of tools is based on the amazing discovery that in changing how you think can change what you think - and in changing how and what you think, you can dramatically transform the results you create in your life. NLP can assist you to develop and maintain a high level of motivation for achieving your goals, and can help convert barriers and obstacles into doorways to success. NLP can be used to learn the characteristics of top achievers and to create a blueprint for unlimited success. Through the simple yet profound techniques that make NLP so powerful, you can eliminate unwanted habits, transform negative emotions into positive feelings, improve the way you see yourself, enhance your self-esteem and become the person you want to be. Everything you experience is created twice - first in your mind and then in reality. The experiences you create are representative of your internal state, the way you think and the feelings that your thoughts generate. When you have the tools to change your internal state, you will find that your external reality will change to match the new internal state. It's pretty simple, and quite astounding. It has been proven in many fields: · Business · Relationships · Sports · Health & fitness · and therapy to name but a few. NLP was founded in the '70s by a mathematician Richard Bandler, and a linguistic John Grinder in Santa Cruz, California - they were curious. They had wanton curiosity about how some people were able to have fantastic results. They asked "what is it that makes the difference between somebody who is merely competent at any given skill, and somebody who excels at the same skill?" So they modelled three experts; Fritz Perls, Virginia Satir and Milton Erickson, each pioneers and experts in their fields. They studied their physiology, their thought process and the structure of the language they used. NLP was uncovered, with the Meta Model and the Milton Model and other transformational skills and techniques. When taught to others, they were astonished by the results. Students were achieving the same results much, much quicker. There was no need to study for years, this was better and evolutionary. NLP will allow you to create new neurological pathways, this will create behaviors that better serve you for your life and eliminate old destructive patterns of behavior. In a nut shell, NLP can help anything that you do in life that requires thought, either conscious or unconscious. Such as:
